Too Much Time on My Hands

It’s rare that I find myself with down time on my hands to spend by alone. My days are so hyper-scheduled these days and because of my husband’s schedule, I generally have Ace (and of course Bea) in tow. Well on Saturday, my grandmother asked to keep Ace for the day, and even before my husband dropped him off over there, he took him to basketball practice with him. So essentially I was on my own from about 8am onward. And my grandmother didn’t give us a particular time to pick him up either.

You would think that I’d have thought this through ahead of time. But nope, I didn’t have time for that. Go figure. So instead, after my two appointments I had scheduled at 10 and 11am, I was at a loss. It’s so weird, being so busy and knowing exactly what your next 20 steps will be, then going to zero and not knowing what to do in the next 5 minutes.

I ended up picking up a new car seat for Ace, so Bea can use the infant one when she arrives. Past that, I couldn’t decide whether to be super-productive or to allow myself some super-relaxation time. In theory, I wanted to try to split my time evenly and do both. Maybe get a pedicure and get some planning done for Bea’s sprinkle. Instead, I found myself driving straight home and just went with it. When I got there, I decided to do a couple things before I maybe headed out for a pedicure. I had hoop dreams for that time and ended up only doing a fraction of what I said I would do at the house and of course ended up with no pedicure. I folded a boatload of laundry and cleaned one of the bathrooms. Not exactly the ultra-productive or the ultra-relaxing day I had in mind. Instead, it ended up being somewhere in between.

Not a total loss though, because while I was folding and cleaning, my husband painted the room that will now be Ace’s new room! So I guess the time was well spent after all.
