Balls and Backpacks

Every day, Ace picks the toy he wants to take over grandma’s house to play with that day. Normally it’s one of his balls. But lately, he’s been taking his backpack he got for Christmas. Today, I asked him several times if we wanted to put one of his balls in his bag, but he insisted that all he wanted were his three cars, his hammer and his rock.

Me: Are you sure?

Ace: Cars

Me: Do you want one of your balls too?

Ace: No thank you. Rock.

Me: How about you take one of your balls too? It’ll fit.

Ace: No thank you. Please have hammer please.

Me: Okay, if you say so.

So, of course on the way to grandma’s house in bumper to bumper rush-hour traffic, he spontaneously breaks out into wailing about his orange ball and about how we have to please go get it please. This kid. I proceed to explain to him that we talked about it repeatedly but he said he didn’t want it so we’ll have to get it when we get back home later. I tell him that he has an orange ball at granny’s house that he can play with instead. His response: Please get other ball please.

So that’s how my morning started. I can only hope yours was just as exciting.

As a side note, I am head over heels for Ace’s bookbag. It’s a Herschel toddler size and it’s the cutest thing on him. We gave it to him for Christmas and it’s a black and gray snakeskin print with red accents. Totally a cool kid kinda bag. We got our goddaughter the same one but hers is a chambray with white polka dots. I wasn’t sure if the bags would be small enough for them but they are and they’re perfect.
